1. You’re waiting to feel ready
No one will ever be a 100% ready to start something new. Because new means unfamiliar, and how can you be ready if it’s unfamiliar?
Accept the way you’re feeling: perhaps the lack of confidence, the doubt, that uneasy feeling. And just start. Growth happens after you start, not before. Make it exist first, and then make it good.
2. You’re confusing being comfortable with being happy
Your life may feel safe and comfortable, but deep down you may know it no longer fits you. You feel like you want more, like there is more out there for you. But not taking the step will be comfortable now; because you’re not taking action everything will stay as it is. But that’s exactly the downfall. And in the long run, that’s not what is going to make you happy.
Going for it means being uncomfortable now. Not going for it means being uncomfortable for the rest of your life.
3. You’re attached to the version of you that people know
Growth can be uneasy because not everyone in your surroundings will grow with you, or in the same direction as you. People know a certain version of you, and that version will change if you grow. That can make people feel uncomfortable, almost as if you let them down by making a different choice.
In the end, the people who are truly meant for you will stay by your side one way or another. Most important is that you do not disappoint yourself.
4. You consume more than you create
You read, watch, scroll, save and listen to content. Social media posts, inspiring podcasts, you consume it all and think about how you want to change your life. But you don’t convert much into action.
Inspiration can become a very pretty form of procrastination.
5. You keep making decisions based on the outdated version of yourself
You’re still making choices based on who you are now. What you like or don’t like, what you think you want. But growing means evolving. And to do so, you have to make different decisions than you’ve been making up until now. Visualize the new version of yourself, which decision would she make?
Would she scroll for another hour, looking for that perfect post…? Or would she get off her ass and go for it?
